What does it mean to be a good person

Hello! Happy Sunday!!!

So Dave and I have an announcement. We are MOVING! We are moving up to Murray! Dave got a new job and luckily my job is able to transfer up there. But we are beyond excited for the change. It will be an adventure because we won't know hardly anyone so it is almost like a fresh start. It is nice though that we will still be close to our families down in Utah County. We will be moving at the beginning of August.

I am sad though to leave our ward that we are in now. I have loved being apart of the young women and being the Beehive Adviser. Today I taught one of my last lessons there and I just wanted to share a little bit about what we talked about.

The theme for July is "Ordinances and Covenants" and I picked the topic, "What covenants did I make at baptism?"

What is a Covenant?
It is a PROMISE between you and GOD.

What is an Ordinance?
It is a physical action to a spiritual promise. Like being baptized etc.

Joseph Smith said, "You can never fully separate the spiritual from the physical."

When we are baptized and become members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints we make Covenants (promises) with God.

Those are:
Take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ
Always remember Him
Keep His commandments
Serve Him to the end

Each week at Church as we partake the sacrament we renew those covenants (promises).

What does it mean to truly "Take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ?"
I think it means to be like Him. To be an example of Christ and do the things he would do.

Mosiah 18:8-10

And it came to pass that he said unto them: Behold, here are the waters of Mormon (for thus were they called) and now, as ye are adesirous to come into the bfold of God, and to be called his people, and are willing to bear one another’s burdens, that they may be light;
Yea, and are awilling to mourn with those that bmourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as cwitnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the dfirst resurrection, that ye may have eternal life—
10 Now I say unto you, if this be the desire of your hearts, what have you against being abaptized in the bname of the Lord, as a witness before him that ye have entered into a ccovenant with him, that ye will serve him and keep his commandments, that he may pour out his Spirit more abundantly upon you?

When we strive to be like Christ, we strive to be a good person. To help those around us. Dave told me about a Lady that is known for living by this principle that is not a member of this church. She is called "The Hugging Saint." She is known as "Amma" or "Mother." She is known for her humanitarian activities by taking care of people. By hugging millions of people. She really cried with those that cried and mourned with those that mourned and because she did so many people came to her just to feel that love. It's amazing to see how big of an impact that one principle made of "being Christ-like" and helping others makes in peoples lives. We need to help each other through life!

I love this video! It doesn't matter what religion you are, religion or no religion, it's about helping others! That's what it means to be a good person. Jesus Christ is the perfect example of that. So as we "take upon us the name of Christ" we are being like him. I strive to be like him, It's my goal to each day help someone even if it's just a simple text "hey, just thinking about!" it really can make such a difference in peoples lives. I know it has in mine when people have genuinely cared about me and have been nice. Everyone needs LOVE. Everyone needs to be cared about and to be validated. So let's all be more Christ-like and help each other through this crazy world!
